A memorable logo is undoubtedly a part of that, but the colors, fonts, design elements and more come together to present your company as a cohesive, professional brand. OUT – the Outdoor Recreation Center was a response to this Briefbox prompt which has been changed since they reformatted their site. I submitted two versions, the second after bringing it before a subreddit for graphic design. Below is the original wording for the prompt:
An outdoor activity centre based in the Peak District called OUT would like a main logo and set of icons to use across their brand. OUT appeal to all ages but get a lot of interest from secondary schools for day trips out to encourage team-building. OUT also cater for hen/stag parties, amateur climbers and for those with a little more experience. The icons will be used on their website, to help quickly distinguish between different activities they run. There are 6 main activities: mountaineering, canoeing, rock-climbing, abseiling, caving and team building, and OUT need a simple icon for each exercise. They would also like a similar approach to their main logo which needs to be professional and encompass their overall love for adventure.
- simpler icons (less detailed, more recognizable from a distance)
- just the compass in the logo
- drop “outdoor activity centre” from logo since it isn’t the acronym for OUT
- either lose the backpack or make sure it doesn’t look like it’s screaming
- keep the rounded theme throughout
- more practical examples
- think real world application
